Dr. Gozali spent his early adult life in UK, studying “A” levels (King’s College School, Wimbledon) and medicine (Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery- MBBS, at University College London). He has worked in various teaching hospitals in UK as middle grade doctor and senior doctor. Among the many prestigious hospitals where he worked were The Royal London hospital, St. Bartholomew’s hospital and John Radcliffe hospital. The first two were teaching hospitals of University of London, whilst the last being teaching hospital of University of Oxford.
Having consolidated, while in UK, his knowledge and skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Gozali returned to Indonesia to provide an equivalent, if not better, standard of care to the Indonesian patients. By words of mouth, patients- even from different cities, have come to consult Dr. Gozali.
There is no hesitation to refer to other doctors if Dr. Gozali feels it is for the best interest of patients. Cases that are commonly referred out include routine fetal anomaly scan and malignancies where patients are best served elsewhere.
Many obstetrics patients come to Dr. Gozali wishing to achieve vaginal delivery. Painless labour is offered in the form of mobile epidural analgesia. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine is available also. Unfortunately, water birth and Entonox (laughing gas / nitrous oxide) are not available in Jakarta.
Recent study (2022-2024) of personal data on deliveries by Dr. Gozali revealed that those patients who wish to have vaginal delivery, 97.5 % did achieve their aims. The outcome of babies’ well being at birth is not different to those delivered by Caesarean section.
Patients who have Caesarean deliveries recover quickly with a vast majority of them being able to mobilise the following day. Prophylaxis against infection and venous thromboembolism (VTE) are routinely provided, as per British (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) protocol.
Dr. Gozali is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, a prestigious and world-renown organisation. Being qualified in UK, he is also registered with (British) General Medical Council.
